Acrylic Painting
Looking for a fun and easy way to kick back and relax? Do you enjoy arts and crafts? Well, why not try something new?
You do not have to be a professional artist to dabble in acrylic painting! Once you have all the necessary materials–acrylic paint, palette, smooth painting surface, paper towels, water, and paintbrushes–you can set up a comfortable work space and get to work. Make sure to squeeze little portions of acrylic paint onto your palette–making sure not to waste any paint.
However, if you are unsure about what you want to paint, take a quick stroll outside and spend some time observing your surroundings! Some of the best paintings are inspired by day-to-day people, places, and things. Many ideas include skylines, landscapes, flower beds, skies, and loved pets. Once you have an idea about what to paint, choose your colors, take a deep, relaxing inhale and begin to paint.
As you dip your paintbrush into the paint and begin applying the smooth strokes to your smooth canvas surface, make sure to keep both a cup of water and a spray bottle of water handy. The cup of water can be used to clean the desired paintbrush when changing the desired color of paint, while the spray bottle of water should be used to keep the canvas surface moist.
Since acrylic paint has a plastic-like consistency, it needs a little moisture for best results. Also, make sure to dab your paint brush on paper towels in between uses to eliminate extra paint or water.
Finally, remember to have fun no matter the end result. Whether you are an arts and crafts aficionado or novice, the final product matters way less than the process. If you make a “mistake,” just go with it! Who knows? One mistake might lead you to the masterpiece you did not think was possible!
